- History
- Designed by D. Udaya Kumar and selected in 2010 through a public competition run by the Government of India — with a stated brief, a shortlist, a named winner and a published rationale. The form fuses the Devanagari र with the Latin R, and the doubled horizontal bar reads both as the equals sign of a stable value and as an allusion to the national flag. Unicode encoded it the same year.
